Compliance & Security Specialist

Role Overview:

The Compliance & Security Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s products, infrastructure, and operational processes comply with applicable healthcare regulations, security standards, and internal governance policies. The role supports security assessments, compliance audits, policy implementation, risk management, vendor evaluations, and continuous monitoring to safeguard patient information and maintain customer trust.

The ideal candidate possesses a solid understanding of healthcare compliance frameworks, cybersecurity fundamentals, and information security best practices, with the ability to work collaboratively across Product, Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure, and Operations teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining compliance with healthcare regulatory frameworks including HIPAA and other applicable international standards.
  • Participate in internal and external compliance audits and certification activities.
  • Monitor organizational adherence to security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Conduct security risk assessments and recommend mitigation plans.
  • Support vulnerability management and remediation tracking.
  • Maintain security documentation, policies, SOPs, and compliance evidence.
  • Coordinate vendor security assessments and third-party risk reviews.
  • Assist Engineering and DevOps teams in implementing secure development and deployment practices.
  • Monitor security incidents and support investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Conduct periodic access reviews and ensure least-privilege access controls.
  • Support employee security awareness initiatives and compliance training.
  • Assist in preparation of customer security questionnaires and compliance documentation.
  • Track compliance metrics and prepare management reports.
  • Recommend improvements for organizational security posture and governance processes.
  • Stay updated with emerging cybersecurity threats and regulatory changes.

Functional Success Metrics:

  • Compliance audit readiness maintained throughout the year.
  • Timely closure of audit observations.
  • Security vulnerabilities tracked and remediated within defined SLAs.
  • Compliance documentation maintained accurately.
  • Third-party security assessments completed on schedule.
  • Policy compliance across departments.
  • Security awareness initiatives completed successfully.
  • Zero major compliance violations attributable to internal process gaps.
  • High customer confidence during security due diligence activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in Information Security, Compliance, Governance, Risk, or Audit.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare security and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, ISO 27001, SOC 2, or similar frameworks.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk assessment methodologies, and security controls.
  • Experience with security documentation and audit evidence preparation.
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
