DevOps Engineer

Role Overview:

We are developing a world-class cloud-based healthcare product that enables our US-based customers to digitalize various use cases within their healthcare systems. As a DevOps engineer will work as part of the Infra team responsible for Provisioning resources for various applications on AWS infrastructure, Incidence management and investigations to identify their root cause. Implementing, reviewing and testing infrastructure code.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, maintain, and optimize AWS infrastructure, including services such as ECS, EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, VPC, Route 53, RDS, CloudFront, Lambda, AWS WAF, and ECR.
  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated application deployments.
  • Set up and manage Docker-based deployments on Amazon ECS (Fargate and/or EC2 launch type).
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Configure, manage, and monitor event streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka (self-managed or Amazon MSK).
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and internal tools using Python or Bash.
  • Implement infrastructure monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance optimization.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and implement preventive measures.
  • Collaborate closely with development, QA, and security teams to align infrastructure with application requirements.
  • Ensure cloud infrastructure follows security best practices and organizational compliance requirements.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and production support activities.

Functional Success Metrics:

  • AWS: Strong hands-on experience with ECS, EC2, IAM, CloudWatch, S3, VPC,Subnets, Security Groups, Route 53, ALB, RDS, Lambda, CloudFront, AWS WAF, ECR, and Secrets Manager.
  • Containers: Proficiency with Docker and container orchestration using Amazon ECS.
  • CI/CD: Experience designing and maintaining Git-based CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Hands-on experience with Terraform (preferred) or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Kafka: Good understanding of Kafka architecture, producers, consumers, brokers, partitions, replication, and topic management.
  • Scripting: Strong scripting skills in Python and/or Bash.
  • Monitoring & Logging: Experience with Amazon CloudWatch, ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, or similar monitoring solutions.
  • Version Control: Hands-on experience with Git (GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket).
  • Strong understanding of Linux system administration.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts including DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, Load Balancers, and VPC networking.
  • Experience implementing security best practices including IAM policies, secrets management, least privilege access, and infrastructure hardening.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems, scalability, and high-availability architectures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • AWS Certification (preferably AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate, or higher).
  • Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, OWASP, ISO/IEC 27001, or similar industry standards.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and cloud security best practices.

Experience & Education:

  • 3-5 years of related work experience, preferably in the IT Healthcare industry
  • BS/MS degree in Business, IT, or Computer Science or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) is a MUST
  • Experience working in an agile/scrum-based delivery environment is considered a plus
