Job Description:

At Deline Media group of companies, we are seeking a motivated and experienced Medical Billing Team Lead to join our growing team! In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our medical billing department, ensuring accurate and efficient claim submission, maximizing collections, and leading a team of medical billing specialists.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and mentor a team of billing specialists, providing coaching and guidance to ensure efficient and accurate billing practices.
  • Oversee the entire billing process, including eligibility verification, coding, claim submission, and follow-up on denied claims.
  • Ensure adherence to all HIPAA regulations and company billing policies.
  • Analyze billing reports and identify areas for improvement in efficiency and accuracy.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure accurate coding and claim submission.
  • Resolve billing discrepancies and communicate effectively with patients, providers, and insurance companies.
  • Train new staff on billing procedures and company policies.
  • Manage team workload and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in medical billing.
  • Participate in performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Monitor team productivity and quality, ensuring that team members meet or exceed key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Oversee the follow-up process for outstanding insurance claims, ensuring that claims are resolved efficiently and in compliance with company and regulatory guidelines.
  • Analyze trends in claim denials and delays, and work with the team to develop strategies to improve claim acceptance rates.
  • Identify areas for process improvement within the claims follow-up process, and collaborate with management to implement best practices and optimize workflow.
  • Ensure that the team adheres to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintains compliance with industry regulations.
  • Regularly review and update process documentation to reflect changes in policies or procedures.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on team performance, claim status, and other relevant metrics to senior management.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
  • Proven leadership experience in a medical billing industry.
  • Proficient in medical billing software and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint (Must have)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, functions, etc.) (Must have)
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis and reporting. (Must have)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment and provide excellent oral and written communication skills. (Must have)
  • Strong problem-solving skills, a continuous improvement mindset, and resourcefulness.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
